Tim,
....That is the way my Dumerils looked. It is pretty neat how light the eyes are on top and then have the darker stripe that matches up with the stripe on the side of the head. Can you show everyone the light colored spot on their throats?
Jeff

....what's that for?

BTW, How are ya?

Jeff Clark Aug 21, 2007 11:21 PM

Linda,
..I am doing fine. How are you? Every Dumerils I have seen had the white spot under the chin. Sometimes it is very slightly bluish tinted. I do not know why they have the spot.

some think that the madagascar ground boas and tree boas along wiht a few others from mad also may have this but dont know of what purpose it serves lol and yes jeff as far as i have seen all dums have them

Sunshine Aug 21, 2007 11:58 PM

amazing.

It's so cool how animals have evolved.

I'm okay too. Time's too short.

From what i understand, The dumerils in captivity are extremely inbred. Apparently there haven't been many imports in a while for dums so all dums have that same white spot because it goes back to the original ones that were imported.

but you cant really blame the white spot on inbreeding cause wild caught dums have them also even if you go to mad and go herping and find a dum it will have the white patch

TimS Aug 21, 2007 11:03 PM

once they settle in a lil more ill snap a few pics of that i know exactly what you are talking about the guy who i got them from goes i think they have rat bites from when they were babies under there head i look and laugh go nope its supposed to be like that. Back to the eyes i knew they were lighter in dums but the females i wish you could see them in person jeff they are just so dang white they almost glow. the males is about the color i am used to seeing in dums some slight lighter this females i think they used glow in the dark white paint on them lol

Sunshine Aug 21, 2007 10:56 PM

Those are cool! Don't know if they're normal but, their color matches the labiels perfectly and look like great camouflage. Dumerils have always appealled to me.

strictly4fun Aug 21, 2007 11:06 PM

balls if I say so myself Tim and appear to glow

and hypo pastels are cool too
Bob

TimS Aug 22, 2007 12:57 AM

thats like the one i have now those bottom ones are awsome also all these are co-dom morphs based from a pastel crossed to a cinny pastel or a black pastel both are almost the same thing
here is my boy nice yellow pastel

i got this pic from RDR web page THIS IS NOT MY PIC lol
anywhos bob these are cinnys they are like the same thing just a lighter shade of brown as the black pastels everythign else is same same super form same cross possiblities and the two types even co work together

left is super form middle is normal and right is a cinny

now this pic is from grazianis site lol
this is a pewter a pastel like mine crossed to a black pastel or a cinny (right snake above)

now breed the pewter to another cinny or black pastel and get the silver streak wich is a super cinny pastel jungle

sorry i got a bad pic on this last one but the whole body is same color as what you see

strictly4fun Aug 22, 2007 07:09 PM

Tim that pastel looks nice but that super looks cool but that black pewter is awesome and the silver streak is off the chain. Is the silver streak and silver bullet the same thing?
Bob

TimS Aug 22, 2007 09:04 PM

i think the silver streak and silver bullet are the cinny/pastel super form and the black pastel/pastel super form not 100% sure lol im just gettting into understanding all these diff cool morphs im the base morph type of guy give me a albino and a piebald and i am happy lol i like sticking to the basics

Tim,
...Also keep in mind that a long time ago Dumerils were commonly considered to be cannibalistic. I have only heard of a few instances where one has eaten another snake but I would be careful with them.
