temp question

fatscales Aug 22, 2007 12:59 AM

ok its been a little while since i owned any pits but...nightime heat off or on? the room is about 75 degrees at night and around 80 when the sun hits it morning to afternoon, under the heat pad which is fairly small area its around 87 degrees(with 2 inches of aspen about 107 degrees with paper towels HOT). My old pits never had a problem with room temps (digestion wise) temps stated above are whats shown on the digi i have in the room. humidity is really high in that room for some reason 37% for here in las vegas anyway-chuckle away easterners and southerners i dont know how you live in such humid areas if you do.

thanks for any input.

People much smarter than I say over and over again that pits like it on the cooler side.

I'd say, 80-85 should be your warm spot temp, and ambient should be in the low to mid 70's...

Most of my pits are at ambient temps of 78-80 degrees and they don't have a problem. I put some one year at 84 degrees and they wandered, sat in the water bowl, or had their mouth open. As soon as the temps would drop some, they acted normal again. If they get too hot, they may act somewhat aggressive also.
