It's about dang time......

rainbowsrus Aug 22, 2007 02:20 AM

No Tim, not that...

The LAST of my Will Bird 2007 babies has finally shed for me. If memory serves me right, they arrived the 10th of July. My records show a couple shed on the 11th. Three hav even shed twice already but OH NO, not Ginger. She's been holding out on me all this time. So now I can finally post up the whole set of just shed pics...

This is Ginger with Henrietta, one of the other girls that just had her second shed yesterday.

And just for fun I added in Dot, the other female that had her second shed yesterday

Nice pics!

I am very happy with my Will Bird babies. This last weekend I was admiring my male, and then realized he is a bit dull and going to shed. He is just that nice! Thnaks for leaving some for me!

Gotcha covered.. darn I'm good...

In the MIE window you are viewing KS with at the upper left click on "View" then "Encoding" at the bottom of that menu are the Right-To-Left / Left-To-Right options. Let me know if that fixes ya up!!

My main house breaker panel is shot, corrosion on the bus bar causing arcing between bus and a couple of breakers. I've managed to shut down enough circuits and shuffled the remainder so all are on still good spots of the bus. Obviously need to replace the entire panel. Right now is a 100 amp panel, minimal size, standard tract home crapola, never spend any more than they have to. Anyways, I'm planning on replacing the small 100A panel with a larger 150A or 200A panel but still with 100A service. That will give me room to spread out the breakers I do have several of which are multiple breakers for one bus spot (or pair) like two 15A breakers on one bus lug or one 220V breaker and two 110V breakers on a pair of bus lugs.

Anyways, I've done some electrical work before and was wondering if there are any electricians out there who could steer me away from any pitfalls!!

I take it you have duplex breakers in the box currently - One breaker that takes up one slot in the box, but is actually two seperate curcuits with two switches(this for 110 breakers).

Going to a larger box (more slots) will allow you to get rid of the duplex breakers, but this will not provide any real benefits to you (unless the duplex breakers are against your local building code). If the duplex breaker are against your building code going to a larger box with more slots will be beneficial.

Going to a 150 or 200 amp box will not provide immediate benefits unless you up the service to match the box size. You will still be subject to how many amps of breakers you can have for 100 amps of service - again governed by your building code. It will be easier to overload the box when you have more slots for breakers.

One benefit of going to a larger box (in amps) is it will make upping the incoming service easier in the future.

Just after posting the message - I wonder if you were to go to a 200 amp box with 100 amp service would you only have 1/2 the box live?

In both my houses - I have had 200 amp service so I have always had enough space and capacity.

The whole box would be live. I had thought of upping the service loop as well. Even found the 150A cable to do it, was not able to find 200A cable. Hmmmmm

Yeah - I looked and the whole box would be live. I just know I have 2 main wires coming into the box and thought each one provided 100 amps.

strictly4fun Aug 22, 2007 07:05 PM

told me (now this is LA code) but 150 amp requires 3 awg and 200 amp needs 2 awg. He said to pull the meter so only the top side of the bus on the meter is now hot. He said cut one wire at a time starting with the two hots and the neutral last. After cutting each wire where it bows down from the top of the meter to go down to reach the panel box. Wrap electrical tape after cutting each wire then remove very carefully. When cutting obviously use insulated cutters (cuz I like you toolol) and when you put the new wire in use clear taps. Not quite sure what it is but the guy at home depot (he uses a company called Nu-Lite here) can point you in the right direction on this. It is something like a lug that connects the wire to the allen screw but it is covered in plastic for safety reasons but that is the way to go he says. Any more ?'s just post them I will relay them or if better yet I could put you in touch with by phone if need be cuz again you are the man Dave and I could possibly move up on the list lol j/k
