lkerfn May 22, 2003 02:31 AM

Man this hasnt been my week for my chams. first my panther died and now i think my baby jackson is getting sick or something. he is a few months old and today looked fine. but not he was sitting at the bottom of the cage all dark and twitching a little bit.. and trying to scratch himself? has anyone heard of this before? he took a few deep breaths but that is all. just really dark color and looking very very lazy. almost weak. he is drinking and ate today. no signs of some kind of sickness? any help would be great, and i hope if there are some that he wont be dead

If you've lost one already and another is sick it sounds as if there might be a husbandry problem, but we don't have enough info on your setups and diet to tell. Please give details about lighting, temps and humidity, age of cham, gutload and feeding, dusting, cage setup, etc. If this is a very young jax, be aware that they are tricky to raise and often mortality is very high.

It would help to know a lot more about your husbandry.

You do have signs of illness contrary to what you say in your post. Sitting on the bottom, twitching and scratching are all signs that things aren't right in your Jax's world. If your Jax is under 4 months of age the care required for keeping him well and healthy is about 5 times that of an adult Jax.

Give us more info on lighting, heat and UVB, temps throughout the enclosure, type of enclosure, misting frequency and durations, diet, surroundings of your enclosure, like can you cham see your dog, cat the family eating dinner or is he secluded like he should be and out of high traffic areas.
