A couple from this year

Brad Alexander Aug 22, 2007 10:03 AM

This year my females gave me 3 good clutches. 1 huge clutch of 14 and a couple of very small clutches. I would have to say that none of the babies came out spectacular, they're just your average thayeri. Well, I guess the melanistic animals aren't that average, they have a lot of black in them, obviously from their mom. Here's a couple to start out with.

From my Randy Wright female

Obviously from my melanistic female

The next two are from my Bob Johnson female. These guys came out HUGE. Big 'ole beefy babies.

Formerly “Never Enough Reptiles” but, I messed up and neglected to register the domain name or file as a business under that name. Since we are just small Hobbyists, I really didn’t think of protecting the name we have used for the last four years. Someone else is now Never Enough Reptiles LLC. And has a web site under that name. We did not move to Louisiana and we are no longer posting under that name.

Brad,

Very nice looking animals man!!! I'm partial to #2 and #4...

Did you get any males from your melanistic clutch? Just wondering...

Later,
Jim.

Brad,
Those look very nice and as usual your photography skills are superb! In one of your other posts you said you got males from the melanistic clutch.....are they melanistic? Did you produce any melanistic and if so can you share pics?

Thanks,
Russ

Nope, didn't produce any melanistic this year, maybe next year though. But then, who knows, some of these animals from this year have a lot of black tipping. Maybe they'll turn black with age.

like black milksnakes? I've seen thayeri get pretty dark but I've never heard of them turning completly black like L.T. gaigeae.

But I have seen alterna start out looking like a blairs, only a few years later to be pretty dang black throughout. Not jet black like black milks but pretty dark. Of course, that's coming from parents that did the same thing. I don't have enough experience with thayeri to know what is even likely to come from a single melanistic parent in the long run. I'll tell you what though, this years clutch came out with a lot more black than last years.
