Quote from The Roach God, "There have been no well defined studies on the nutritional values of cockroaches. The analysis that have been done indicate that they have a higher nutritional value than crickets, being that there is more substance per gram. In one gram of roaches compared to one gram or crix, the roaches will have higher protein and fat values and the crix will have higher H2O values, in general.

The nutritional studies have not been done as we still have not done any nutritional studies for the animals we keep captive and feed invertebrates to. So, if we do not know the nutritional requirements of captive animals that feed on invertebrates, we have no means to guage how the requirements are affected by the values available in various inverts."

The nutritional tests results I've seen just list protein, ash, fat, and moisture. They have more protein. The real test is the health of the animals they are being fed to. Breeding is the major issue since adult reptiles don't have requirements like immatures (and to a lesser extent breeding females). Many breeders swear by roaches becuase survival of young improves and their animals produce more.
