got my first gtp last wed. doing great livly. the last 3 days ive noticed that he gets off his vine and goes to the bottom of the cage is this normal. im pretty sure all the conditions are optimal in his cage. today he ate a pinky hung out on the vine and then 2 hours late went to the floor again

Some do go to the bottom. My Biak did quite a bit at first. She was rather stressed. She doesn't do it anymore though. My Biak/PNG goes to the bottom when he's near shed, although this behavior has decreased as well with him. Yours seems to be o.k. though if it's eating, but keep an eye on it. Who did you get it from? If it is a breeder they should be helping you with that.

i woke up this morn to him on the floor of his cage shed peeled back past his head. he ate a pinkie yest about 5 pm ad hung our on his vine for most of the night. im wondering if the humidity is too low. because the subtrate is kept damp. altho my gauge shows 70%. then again its located right at the bottom. maybe ill buy a new one just to be safe. and move it up in the cage. (btw hes in a 18x18x24 exoterra) prob a little big but i got it for free.

First I can tell you that with that cage you are not keeping the proper humidity, especially if you are using the screen top. The cage is too large for a neonate and could be causing stress as well. But your picture says it all, does your snake always coil like that? If so then that is a problem your snake when comfortable should be in nice tightly wrapped coils. Ask the breeder that you purchased the snake from what they recommend for caging and even what they use for caging, what you are using as a cage now works for you but certainly not the snake. Read my post below to killr_silhouette I am sure the info there will help you out.

Also your snake on the floor is no real concern they do it in the wild as well, having said that make sure to read all you can about your snake.

the screen has custom cut acrylic to fit over the screen top. with exeption of where the heat bulb is, and a small air circulation vent. the pic was taken right after i put in him the cage for the first time. he does coil normally
