Help sexing dragon A?

CaptainJWL Aug 22, 2007 09:41 PM

Not sure if you guys can help, but I am trying to sex my BD's and having some trouble with them. At times I think one thing then another. I call em both guys for now.. but i suspect i have a male and female or a male and a very feminime male lol..
This guy is the one who became more dominant and grew a lot faster than the other. They are both about 4-5 months old i suspect. When around the other dragon this one will bob his head a bit and i have seen him poof his neck out a little bit but not often and it gets a lil dark but not much. But if I put them together this guy always dominates, he will run and headbut the other off his perch (whether out of excitedness for a mate or showing a male who is boss i do not know) and i even saw him stand directly on top of the smaller dragon twice when they were both off the perch. Anyways, i will with-hold my input other than what i have shared already so i don't influence your decisions any more. I included 2 pics of what he looks like in general and 2 of his vent, though i'm not sure the pics give you guys enough info to go off of.

Thanks everyone!

I had 2 dragons of about the same size. After a few weeks the female had grown faster than the male and became dominant and forced me to separate them. To this day she is a very dominant female except when a male is present. All females are submissive to adult males.

The moral of my story is you just can't tell by behavior.

Here's a link that shows pictures of how to differentiate the sexes.

The other thing is that when males beards get dark, they are dark from the tip of their chin and down onto their chest. Females beards generally do not get as pitch black and change very little on the tip of their chin and the black does not bleed onto their chests.

When you tilt the dragons tail, you don't need to tilt it until the dragon is uncomfortable. He/she should be totally Ok with you doing it or you're bending it too much.
