Adult Size? - Stillwater Bulls

WK Aug 22, 2007 09:43 PM

Hi folks. I picked up a baby bull snake in Daytona. The seller told me the lineage is Stillwater hypomelanistic outcrossed to a separate Texas line. I was wondering if Stillwaters mature at the larger or smaller size range as compared to most bull snake locality animals. I've heard of an exceptionally large line of bulls originating from Texas so was wondering what I might expect for adult size in the animal I got in Daytona. Pic is attached. Thanks for any info.

Regards,
WK

Beautiful snake. Good find. as far as size goes I can tell you that the original founder male stillwater is a bit over 6 feet long at 11 years of age and the female of the same age is about 5 ft long. It is hard to say what effect on size you can expect from the Texas genetics.

Thank you, and I appreciate the info. That's a gorgeous animal you posted.

Hey,

Great looking bull! It is it from Rob Nimmo with Peace River Herps? (From your description, that's who it sounds like it's from.)

I aquired two of his animals this year...a hypo female similar to that (which if you did buy from Rob, is from the same clutch as yours), and a het male from another clutch.
(I'll post pics of the two of them soon!)

Females should get to be a solid 6 ft. within a couple years, if you feed them right...and males tend to get to be more like 6.5 ft. as adults.

Hope that helps!

Yes, I think my snake is from Peace River Herps. There were some beautiful yearling animals along side this one that were price $250 plus. Does that sound like the same table where you bought yours? Thanks for the size info. I'm lookong forward to your photos.

Best regards,
WK

Yeah, it sounds like we both bought from the same breeder.

Well, here are the pics of the two of them that I promised...

You should be able to tell the het male and the hypo female apart pretty easily.

I am also very pleased the the way both of them look. The hypo female should have the most contrast out of any of them, and the male has the most reds and oranges that I have ever seen in a het.

Hope you enjoy them!

Very nice. I can tell from the neck pattern that your hypo is going to show some excellent contrast in the pattern. The het looks like it will be a looker as well. Congrats.

Thank you!

And like I said, yours has some outstanding colors as well. Although the contrast may not be as high, it is VERY bright, and will certainly be a real beautie!

So, a big congrats on your choice as well!

Take care,
Alex
