Nelsoni breeding ??

cochran Aug 23, 2007 12:31 PM

I have a pr. of amel. Nelsoni that I've attemped to breed 2 yrs. in a row with no results.Fairly recently I read that they breed later in the season than some other colubrids, cornsnakes etc.I've actually witnessed hook-ups.She seems to swell as if she's gravid, goes thru pre-egg lay shed and everything but then she looses weight like nothing ever happened.Could the swelling I'm seeing be from ovulation and not pregnancy?? Thanks!! Jeff

In my experience, Nelsons are late breeders. I've had babies hatch out as late as October - and that's for first clutches.

Tim is right,
I've heard it from diffrent breeders and my 3 clutches are all still in the incubator, the first should hatch in 3 weeks.
