Socal Tortoise

Hey, I live in Southern California, and was looking for a tortoise species that could live here and would not be much bigger than a house cat within the first 6 years of its life, of course I would be feeding it and encouraging its healthy growth, but I'm looking for a smaller sized tortoise in general. Does anyone know of any like that?

Russians! My Russian is outside year around, and considering it never *bleeping* rains here, it usually isn't too big of an issue.

Plus, they're pretty small. My boy is palm sized.
