Lucky Boa

ssshane Aug 23, 2007 02:26 PM

Last night, my neighbor, the animal control officer, came over bearing gifts. He had gone to pick up a dog at a house, and they gave him an extra animal to take. He told me if I didn't want it, they were gonna euthenize it. So, of course, I had to take it. I am guessing this is a common boa? It is definately under fed. I am gonna plump it up some, and try to rehome it.

It isnt too bad. It hissed a little when I grabbed it out of the back of the metal box with the tongs. But after I grabbed it with my hands, it wasn't too bad. Usually I wait a few days before feeding a new snake. But this may be an exception. I agree, a few good meals, and a few sheds, it should be fine. I will find out its sex in the next few days. No rush on that.

No doubt ! let it chill for a few days before feeding or pressing any human interaction. That nose rub scar looks pretty wicked Can it breath ok thru its nostrils? Any sign of open mouth breathing?
People generally get to excited on new arrival rescues and expect or assume to much to soon.

Best Of Luck !

how old do you think he/she is?

it looks to be young, but definately not a baby?

a little hissing isnt bad at all considering what he may have been through
