I put some beak moss in my snakes hide box to make it more secure but he doesn't like it. I don't know if it's the smell or what. He has been on the cool side for tree days.

uh, so take it out? It doesn't seem that it makes him feel secure, therefore the origional purpose is shot, and it is no good to keep it in if he doesn't like it. You could try other types of mosses and see if he likes them better, or decide that he may already feel secure in his hide and not need anything added.
