Let me just pull one outta my A.... Hat!

Sorry Collin, that is going to be tough to pair. Talk to preacher aka Mike Price. I don't think he has one but knows more of the "local" crowd that may frequent the area.

When are you going to produce some Sheffields?

Congrats on a good year!

from Ft Lancaster. At the time I just considered everything in that area to be Sheffields. Yea I probably never will pair those up. The odds of me going back up there are small, but who knows. Thanks, and take care

mistaken. Animals from Ft. Lancaster are NOT from Sheffield. No one that I know would represent these two localities as the same place. There have been 4-5 animals taken from each locality, and only one female from Ft. Lancaster that I know of. BBox had (has?) the only female from there. TroyH, SteveO, RickyG, SamM have all found animals from Sheffield and NONE of them would represent them as Ft. Lancaster...

Thanks and happy herpin'...

The pecos river runs between the locals and would be a genetic barrier.

The river "could" be a barrier. Snakes swim just fine.
The reasons I would consider them a different local is based on distance between localities, and the difference in terrain themselves. Sheffield has a different look and elevation than Ft Lancaster. (look is an opinion)

Best wishes,

Steven Owens

... kidding??? Have you seen the Pecos River where it seperates Crockett county and Pecos county? The river is not the barrier... the miles of Chihuahuan Desert scrubland in between would actually be the barrier! LOL!

Hope all is well...

I feel that they would not be very interested in crossing any running water, not the much to do with the width of the river, but also the break in the hills would keep them apart, I agree on that one....

either. When I first found them I wasnt very familiar with the area, and the only landmark I knew of was Sheffield. So if somebody asked where the snakes were from, Id just say Sheffield. As far as breeding and selling babies, I wouldnt think of pairing snakes that were that far from each other. Im probably more anal about locality stuff than most. In my opinion snakes from more than a few miles apart are not locality snakes. If the breeders had no chance of breeding in the wild they have no chance of breeding in my racks. I cant imagine that an alterna would travel more than a linear mile in its lifetime, and in most cases wouldnt move more than a few hundred yards.
