florida king hybrids

rhyion Aug 23, 2007 11:50 PM

I posted something on the kingsnake forums and was told to post here. I have a male florida kingsnake and want to either integrate him or hybridize him one day. I was wodering what intergrades and hybrids are most likely to work or look best. I have seen a lot of great pics of pueblan milks and kingsnakes, so a pueblan is definetly a possibility. Could a FL king breed with a corn snake?
If anyone has pictures of Florida king intergrades that'd be a great help.

Also, what would be the value of such hybrids. I am not in this to make money, but assuming I did breed a hybrid, and I wasn't up to raising 10-20 neonates, is it probable I would be able to sell any of them?

thanks

There are some beautiful intergrade/hybrids out there with Flordia kings. The Corn x Florida can work. It's probably a little better if the male is the corn.

Goini x Cal King

Hypo Brooksi x Eastern King

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer are at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

thanks, those are some nice pictures.

My next question is, do i need to breed the first generation to its parents or symblings to get nice looking snakes, or will the snakes come out looking nice the first generation.

and also, ive been looking at imperial kings and pueblans. would a florida x pueblan look anywhere as nice as imperials? maybe similar colors with different pattern i was thinking.

thanks

It depends I guess on what look you are after. Usually the F2's look better. I think a Florida/Pueblan would look similar to a Jurassic Milk.

when making imperials, does it matter if the pueblan is apricot or normal, or can either be used for slightly different looks?

thanks

Doesn't matter. The ones I have came from an Apricot Pueblan.
