Great stuff Kerby. Have you seen the purple passion kings yet? they are lavender blizzards (triple homozygous).
Shannon
I did talk to Brian at B.H.B. via e-mail and he said he bred a hypermelanistic to a lavender and then bred back and got a Purple Passion (1/16 showing both traits). There are only 2 genes in a Purple Passion according to Brian.
Now a couple of years ago I did breed a Blizzard to a Lavender producing triple hets (albino, lavender & hypermelanistic)...so it is possible get Blizzards AND Purple Passions out of that pairing.
A couple of years ago I also bred a Lavender to a Mendota producing double hets that I will breed back to each other next year (1/16 will be a Purple Passion).

p.s. Anyone have a pic of a Purple Passion?

Bred a Blizzard to a Lavender.
I had all males except one female.
So I will be breeding 1.1 of these next year.

I will have a few pics for you in two weeks. I am picking up a pair in two weeks from Brian. He has told me they are a combo of the three.
Shannon
The Purple Passion are a Lavender Snow cal, but they need to be bred back twice to bring out the Lavender. I don't have any pics, I'm just always so busy that I never take pics. I will take a bunch of pics this year when I'm hatching them out. Let me know if you have any interest. Talk soon, Brian
-------------- Original message --------------
Of course the term "Snow" is actually a Blizzard. So instead of using an Albino he bred a Lavender to a hypermelanistic and produced Lavender Blizzards instead of Albino Blizzards. There are still only 2 genes involved in Purple Passions (Lavender & hypermelanistic). I also talked to him on the phone a couple of months ago. And that is what he agreed to.

so the red eyes are from the lavender gene then? I figured he bred (and he told me he did?) a lavender into a blizzard and in his e-mail to you thats what he said???
I will be picking up a pair in two weeks from him and will get the whole skinny on it.
Shannon
So I have no idea what they look like.
Maybe I was mistaken...I will call him back and try to get clarification.
Next year I will be breeding my triple hets (Blizzard x Lavender) back to each other.
Next year I will be breeding my double hets (Lavender & Mendota) back to each other.
Soon I will be producing another line of them....but I will try and get clarification from Brian on how he made his.

Consider yourself lucky. You know I waited years for that snake and he flaked [unintentionally I am sure...he seems like a good person] and left me empty handed. I don't hold a grudge and had a nice chat with him at Daytona but man it bugs me that I was interested in this snake many moons ago and never got in on the project.....life goes on. Looking forward to seeing yours Tom Stevens

Great Post Kerby, Its nice, and makes it easy, to follow the posts when breeders are talking about different genes in snakes, when pictures are present in the post. Especially when you show the parents and offspring.
Thanks again;
