Comercially Available Hides?

balls4all Aug 24, 2007 02:58 AM

Although I rarely use hides myself, I was wondering if anyone knows of a supplier that has hides available for a rack type setup . Also what would you consider the perfect hide? Im guessing a smooth plastic hide that would be stackable and easy to clean, What other features can you think of that would make the perfect hide for rack systems in a breeding situation for various sizes.Hatchlings, Juvinile, Subadult, Adult........
I have seen bark, Plastic fake caves , But nothing for a rack setup for breeders . Any input would be appreciated!!!For hatchlings for example I would consider a replacable plug for dropping in feed for slow feeders.

Go to WalMart and buy the small plain cat litter pans. $1.83 each and they work perfect for adults. Just cut a hole in the short side. They're short enough to fit perfectly inside adult rack tubs.

Depending on the size of the snakes, i found that the plastic turtle half logs work very well..i used them for my smaller snakes...you can get differnt sizes and they are $5 but i think they look good and they are eazy to clean...

paper

the plastic bottoms of food take out containers

if you can get stuff wholesale it beats buying 239 broasted chickens.....

cork......they more or less hide beside it not under it....

and I use black plastic bowls from the Dollar type stores with a hole cut in bottom then inverted

babies I actually still use the black plastic bottoms from 2 liter soda bottles from 17 years ago.....(they don't make bottles 2 piece anymore)

and alot do not get hides
