My new Trans Pecos Ratsnake

JL1981 Aug 24, 2007 06:05 PM

I picked up my first trans pecos ratsnake (my first ratsnake in fact) from Peace River Herps at Daytona. He is littermates with the first snow suboc ever produced. He seems friendly and is very curious. He is remarkably docile and setting in nicely. He ate for me for the first time last night. I had to leave him in the feeding container with a pinky in my closet for about 1/2 hour for him to eat. Guess he is a little shy about eating. He wouldn't eat in front of me. Anyway, I am overjoyed with this snake. They have such great personalities.

Congrats! They are WONDERFUL snakes with great personalities. I've got some of your snake's siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. Your snake is also first cousin of the very first (and only) Bleached Blonde.

Here's a pic of him with a normal blonde and a silver blonde.

I am new to the forum but have been a lurker for about a yr. now. I've really fallen for subocs. So much so they are now the only snakes i keep. This is the most recent i just got from Rick Green (saddleman). A great guy to deal with by the way.

and a blonde I also got from him about a yr. ago.

Thanks, Chris. Can't wait 'til it's finally in print! Won't be too long now. Good luck with your Bogeys.

Just semantics. Obviously, I'm using anthropomorphic terms here.

rustduggler Aug 24, 2007 09:36 PM

elevate the dialogue. then you bump it up a notch. how do you feel about the term "hatch out" dusty? don't you feel that "hatch" should suffice. just a pet peeve of mine that i see used over and over on the forums this time of year. rusty

JL1981 Aug 24, 2007 10:30 PM

I agree...hatch should suffice.

JL1981 Aug 24, 2007 10:29 PM

True, but people tend to be anthropomorphic towards pets (and I am guilty of this as well). By the literal definition, dogs and cats cannot have personality...the only animal that can is a human. I like to use the word "personality" instead of "disposition" because disposition seems to be a word to describe the general character traits of a species...personality seems to be a more specific towards the individual (and we all know snakes have their own individual quirks). Excellent discussion.
