Crapped my pants: S. compressus laying

Oxyrhopus Aug 25, 2007 02:44 AM

She started tonight at 2 AM and has 4 or 5 eggs out and is still there with them. I must admit this almost made me go nuts and I had to wake the wife and she could care less.

And a beautiful snake as well.

This is the banded tree snake from Central and South America. They are rear fanged and eat mainly lizards. I feed her frozen/defrosted small iguanas. She shed recently and refused food for the last two weeks which seemed odd and I happen to joke to friends that she was going to lay eggs is somewhat disbelief myself, but guess I was right. I hope I don't wake up and this afternoon and find out it was a dream.
