Herpetologist in training

Just thought I would post some pics, my son who just turned 8 is really ito all types of reptiles with ball pythons and crocodilians being top of the list. He just received a new ball python (normal female) and a tokay gecko for his birthday and he was VERY happy!!

He also has a Yacare x Spec caiman thats his, but he seems to be trying to take over more and more animals, now claiming a small Dwarf Caiman is also his and showing a LOT of interest in some some other species of crocodilian we have, asking to handle the Siamese, Nile, Cubans, etc.. He doesnt get to touch anything to aggressive nor do I let him handle anything over 2ft.

I am really getting him into Ball pythons at this time as they seem to be addicted to them, he is already really digging the albinos, pieds he have as well as other morph forms that he see's on KS.

Just so everyone knows, he never handles any animals without permission and supervision, I really think its great that he is so interested in herps! I wish my parents would have only been as cool as me!!

Special thanks to Chris Hunter at Nature Coast Exotics for providing the Ball Python and Tokay in the pictures. They are exceptional animals and my son really loves them! Thanks!

Enjoy the pics ...

Yea he can get them out him self, he helps me when its feeding time ... All of the Pythons and small crocs take f/t mice from tongs and the crocs also eat croc pellet chow, I let me son feed these at times. He is prety good at taking care of them, has a LOT to learn still but I think if he stays interested I will be good for him and he would surely be very experienced at a young age.

I dont let him hold the Tokay gecko though, to me thats a hands off lizard.

When I was a kid I always had big problems as far as my parents letting me keep animals (at times) but I did keep a lot of stuff, tons of croc's, burms, retics, monitors, albino w diamond backs, pigmy's, copperheards, etc.. Even a spider monkey and a serval .... My uncle owned a exotic pet store and would let me have just about anything I wanted, so I used to sneak many animals into the house
