Jason...just a thought...or fifteen...

icequeen May 22, 2003 04:35 AM

Jason, I just read all that nonsense that was posted below.

I have a question for you...how knowledgeable could that "breeder" really have been to sell an (apparently) young customer, with NO experience with the species she was selling? To top it off, she sold you GRAVID animals???? That just blows me away!

In MY opinion, that was HIGHLY irresponsible of her, and show's blatant disregard for the chams she sells. I would think a reputable BREEDER would not sell thier gravid stock, UNLESS they were selling to an experienced keeper.
Also, doesn't the average "breeder" want at least SOME of the offspring usually? In other words...wouldn't a typical breeder wait until the cham has layed her eggs before selling her?
Obviously, I'm not a breeder...but that's what seems logical, and responsible to me.

I would have no doubt that someone who does that, would also tell you whatever she thinks you want to hear, about their care, and housing.

Did you perhaps go to her and tell her you had aquariums to house the chams in? Or did you get the housing from her as well?

I think (again, just my opinion) you should ease up on John...he has a WEALTH of information to offer...and you will be the sorry one if you alienate him with your snide remarks.

I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of us ARE employed (how else could we afford the serious $$$$$ it takes to care for our pets?) BUT...whether a person is employed or not is of no concern on a chameleon forum...as long as that "unemployed" person is caring for the animal they are posting about.

Don't be petty Jason. I was met with a certain amount of gruffness when I first came to the forum too, because I acquired my cham with absolutely NO knowledge of HOW to care for him...never having owned a reptile before in my life...I met, and brought home, Zoe all in about a two hour time frame.

The only thing that saved my neck in this forum, with my impulsive decision, is that Zoe was the ONLY thing left...in an empty apartment. He would of died if SOMEONE didn't take him in.

Anyway...enough about that. Just cut these very HELPFUL people some slack. If you don't like what someone has to say to you...ignore it...but you don't have to start name calling and bad mouthing people you don't know.
Each and every one of the people on here have useful information to share...whether you choose to use it, is up to you.

P.S. Perhaps you could suggest to the lady that you bought your chams from that SHE come on here. That way you are not the middle man in it all, and catching hell for HER misinformation.

Like I said...just a thought...or fifteen.

She called you three DAYS after you bought them to tell you they were gravid????

Did she just get the results of the pregnancy test back or what?

Tell us again she's a RESPONSIBLE, KNOWLEDGABLE breeder!

Sounds to me that she had a attack of conscience and decided to tell you after the sale was clinched.

By the way Jason...I know it sounds like an attack on YOU...but in case you didn't notice...I'm talking about the BREEDER...not YOU.
