Sinaloan behavioral question...

Shadylady Aug 25, 2007 10:43 PM

Hi, all! I picked up an little Sinaloan at Daytona. Cute little buggar. Haven't had any experience with them, and wondering if they grow out of squirming and biting? It's pretty funny right now, but may not be too funny when it gets bigger. Reminds me a lot of a wild caught Scarlet king I had.

The answer is ...yes, most all "milks" as a general rule can be nervous and "flighty", especially when very young!
They will calm down with some age and handling in a while. Sinaloans are actually one of the calmer subspecies as a whole, when compared to many other Lampropeltis.
You'll be able to hold it with no problem once it matures some, and it gets more used to seeing movement in it's environment.

My daughter's male Sinaloan (had him for 2 years) can still get squirmy, but he's never bit. Might all be just baby behavior, and he'll growo out of it. Never heard anything about Sinaloans being biters.
