Remote notification for temp problems?

JP Aug 26, 2007 07:42 AM

I'm in the final stages of converting an outbuilding on my property into our reptile facility. I've got A/C and heat taken care of, but I feel like my temperature control will not be quite as relaible as it was in the house. I know lots of folks have thermometer/alarms that can notify them by phone/pager if the temperatures vary from a specified range. I remember in the Sutherlands video that they had such a device for their incubator room.

Who makes these things? And how do they work? I do not have a phone jack out there, although it is within cordless phone range of the house. I need something that will reach me wherever I am if my temperature controlls fail.

All suggestions welcome. Send me some links to on-line catalogues, etc., if you have them handy.

Thanks!

but I guess I'm looking for a little more info. What options are there? how does it work? does it require a phone jack in the immediate vicinity (vs. 50 yards away in the house), etc. Any other info you can shoot my way is greatly appreciated...

I'm finding nothing on the web...heck...I don't even know who to call. Heating/cooling places?

Not sure if it's the same thing - but the Bean Farm has software for Herpstat that will send you emergency email and text alerts.

(CJBianco explaining the origins of the BP market.)
"In the beginning Bob created the Ball Python market. And the market was without morph, and wild traits were upon the industry. And Bob said, Let there be morph, and there was morph. And Bob saw the morph, that it was good; and Bob divided the morph from the wild trait. And Bob called the morph Albino, and the wild trait Normal. And the Albino and the Heterozygous Albino were the first investment.

I don't know if that would work. Sounds like the computer would need to be in the building out there...

I guess I'm looking for some kind of unit that stands alone.

Thats about what I'm looking for. I noticed its set to call below 45 degrees. I would need it call below about 65. I'll give them a ring and see what they can do for me. Thanks...
