Lavender stripe

Kerby... Aug 26, 2007 02:51 PM

The making of a Lavender stripe.

A couple of years ago I bred a Lavender banded male to a female Carlsbad stripe (wild-caught) producing some bandeds, aberrants, and some stripers.

I kept 1.1 of the stripers (100% het for Lavender).

I bred them back to each other this year...they weren't very big....they produced 4 eggs, one went bad...so that left me with three eggs.

One was a Lavender (female).

I love that snake! The abberant stripe or series of dots down its' back is cool! You keeping it?

My late friend Ty Kubin produced some full striped lavendar striped cal kings back in the mid nineties by doing similar breedings. They were gorgeous and I am kicking myself today still by not picking one up when I had a chance.

Keep us all posted on this baby if you decide to keep it!!! Very nice animal!!

Yes, I am keeping her to breed back to her daddy and produce more....but of course next year I should produce some more by breeding the same 1.1 hets that produced her.

Soon I will have those available.

But spots... even better.

I was hoping for stripers as the parents are both stripe and the 2 siblings are stripe.

The grandparents were banded Lavender and stripe (Carlsbad).

I've always got stripe from stripe x stripe breeding.....but I've seen a lot of aberrancies that follow some genes (Davis, Mendota, and the Hypo x Ghost project)
