My first morph!

bartleyreptiles Aug 26, 2007 03:15 PM

Although I have produced balls before, this is the first morph I have produced, a baby mojave! I hatched out two from five eggs. Hopefully odds will be in my favor when my four eggs from my het X het albino breeding hatch!

Congrats! Good luck on the Het. Albino clutch, too. How long do you have before they hatch?

Day 34 right now... and counting...

If you candle them during the last week or so you should be able to tell if you got any Albinos. I could actually tell the Pastels from the Normal in my last clutch.

I've never candled before, but I will give it a shot. I have to say, to be able to tell a pastel from a normal with candling... that's impressive! I wouldn't think you could see that much difference. But then again, without ever doing it, I really have no experience to base that thought on! Thanks!

Well, I don't think I would have been able to tell if I hadn't known what was possible in the clutch, lol. Sometimes you can see the babies really well if the light is bright enough, so it's not too hard to tell. The pastels just looked a little brighter than the normal (I wasn't 100% sure I was right until they hatched), but Albinos should be pretty obvious. All you need is a small, really bright flashlight or you can buy a light made for candeling. Good luck!
