Got this little guy a few years ago... It's an old pic, but he has kept the solid black. Anybody proven out a motley gene in carpets? I'll post some new pics

hey meg i never new you bit your nails lol you need newer pics of that snake and you should really post star on here and make people drool plus i dont think AAR would mind seein a few pics of her again lol.
Yeah Meg, let's see some more pics!!! That is a very cool looking carpet. MPenn hatched out a coastal that had a "motley" kind of look to it last year. Really cool looking snake. I am pretty sure he held on to it, so hopefully we will see down the line if there is anything genetic to it. But ya, I would love to see more pics of yours, especially of the belly. And, of course, I would LOVE to see Star again. I still miss her

LOL Brandon seems to think that pliers, knives, and his teeth are an acceptable alternative to nail clippers....
Here is star, even her belly is yellow, although it's more faint than on top.

Ha I stole your hide box...what you going to do about it?!

Sorry I'm not so good a posting pics on here. Not sure how I can post more than one... Yeah I'm sorta slow, so deal with it.
LOL knifes and teeth i think i can see but pliers lol hmm dontl ie i know those arent brandons i know they are yours lol jk i still cant balieve you got star grrr i was lookin at her and wanted her when still for sale but like noo dont have the extra right now boy am i kickin my self hard
A. Caponetto has been working w/ IJ motleys if my memory serves me correctly. I believe he was planning on trying to prove the gene this year, but I haven't checked lately. There's also been some mention of striping in general being genetic, and given the amount of influence parents' appearance have on JCP offspring, I'd lean more in that direction.

Yeah I've seen the Caponetto clutch, he is having a hard time duplicating it. But wouldn't that be awesome if he does?!
And the thing is I know nothing about the ancestry of this little guy. We picked him up as a hatchling from a guy that was keeping him in a critter keeper with no heat, couldn't get him to eat, and was afraid of him... The guy couldn't even tell us what kind of snake he was. Alas, it would be cool to find him a girlfriend.
So is there any other people working with motley possibilities?

I promised I'd get some updated pics of Haus, so here they are. He is keeping the solid black and getting a little yellow tinge. The pattern on his back only connects in one spot and the stripe is almost continuous down his sides. I'm thinking he would be a great mate for Star. I'll quit yackin' and post the pics already.

His Belly is cream about 1/3 of the way down.

Kinda blurry cuz he wouldn't hold still

I was trying to get the camera to pick up the yellow

Here's my male...

I picked him up back in '03 from my vet, who said a lady wanted him put down because he was "mean" of all things. A lot of feeding and handling, and he's now tame as can be.
I'll be breeding him to my adult female Coastal this year to see if I can prove out the "motley" markings. I can't wait to see what comes out, even if they aren't "motley"!

That is a beautiful boy you have there! He kind of looks like Zeke, another carpet that found it's way into my home a few years back. As far as I know the motley gene hasn't been proved out yet. But even if it doesn't prove out, I really like the look of the isolated saddles with the solid black... and as much of a stripe down the side as we can get. LOL But wouldn't it be nice if it did?!
Thanks!
