There is no reason you would ever use a pinky pump with a BP. Tell us a little more about your situation (baby, adult, how long since last meal, what your set-up is like, etc...all the variables). After that, we can advise as to how to get the snke feeding on its own. Even for a baby who has never fed, you could gently assist feed a whole pinky as a last resort...
i got this baby at the fire show in orlando on July 15 they said it was due to eat.its very young about 1.5 feet. its in a 20 long with 2 other of its siblings who eat perfectly about 85-90 on the warm side and about 75 on the cool.with 3 different hides. humidity is about 60%. any help?
You shouldn't be housing the three babies all in one tank. They need one of their own for all three. Odds are, your baby isn't eating because he's stressed out since he's been living with his siblings. Buy three tanks and house them individually. Then after a few days, or a week, of living alone, offer him a food item. If you feed live, try a live food item. If you feed frozen/thawed try a f/t food item. I'll bet you he eats. Good luck and keep us updated.
in the back of my mind i felt like that might be the problem. but then the other two eat just fine but i will go get some tanks and move them. dont worry i will keep you updated. what should i try to feed him.i do live but would a hopper be okay?
I agree...house seperately. Temps sound fine. AM I to take it that it has never eaten? If not, what I would go with (after setting it up seperately and leaving it alone for a week or so) is a "crawler" mouse...somewhere between a fuzzy and a hopper. You're looking for a mouse that has just opened its eyes. They crawl around a bit but do not have the rapid movements of a hopper. Go with a colored mouse if you can find one, and leave it in overnight. It'll most likely be gone in the morning.
Now, if the snake has never eaten, and it hatched back in early July, you may want to consider assist feeding it. I would only do it if the snake REALLY looks skinny. You'll have to make the call on that, but we can give some pointers if you think you need to do it...
i can post a picture of him and his sibling who are the same age if that helps any.

It's hard to say from that picture, but he doesn't look so skinny that he's in danger of starving to death within the next fe weeks. Get him set up properly ASAP, give him about 1 week (no handling at all!), then try what I suggested. If he doesn't feed after being left overnight with a crawler, you can then assist feed him a pinky.
well he is already in his own set up with a hide, bowl of water and a basking spot.
Best of luck to you. Keep us updated.
