Hey Brian
Do you still breed or own any English Mastiffs? I got a puppy a couple of months ago. He is now 4 months old and 60lbs. This is my first English Mastiff. Any advice?
Thanks
Danielle

He is purebred from champion lines with AKC papers. His father is 200lbs at 14 months old. What is SCH?

Was actually talking to the AB owner. ABs come in two sizes, so a hybrid can be pure bred.
SCH is schutzhund. It is personal protection training, something ABs excell in.

ya hes a hybrid, and i have already started his training for sch. with any luck well be getting the schbh as soon as possible then going to move up the ladder. and hes about 58lbs at 6months. probably going to be on the smaller side as far as hybrids go. mom was only 65lbs dad is 95lbs. and ya my ghetto flirt is gonna have to do till i get my spring pole made.

Be sure to check local laws on the flirts. Here they are illegal. Flirts and spring poles! They are too often used in fight training, so they are considered illegal fight tools, thus possibly resulting in a fine.
You may want to get his ATTS before he completes his SCH titles. That will counter-act any possible issues with having a dog trained in personal protection. I am quite sure he will excel since ABs are so guardian oriented.
You ever notice the higher number of bull breed owners that also keep snakes?

ATTS is the super charged temp test that will help hold up in court should someone try to harrass you. Same with CGC. But I believe both need to be done before you start with the SCH because the organizations do not accept the SCH training. These two items also assist with homeowners insurance rates.
On top of the pythons, boas and cyclura oh my, I do have a hybrid AB and an american pit bull terrier.

ok thanks for the info. do u know what kinda stuff they look for in those test? i know i have some seriuos work ahead of me cuz i just cant keep his little butt on the ground when meeting people.
i also have an older male hybrid ab around 4 yrs old who is just awesome, has some hip issues but that doesnt slow him down at all. hes also a very big boy as far as hybrids go, around 120lbs not in shape to 112lbs in excellent shape. hes more standard in looks but has size of johnson dogs. super obediant and a natural protector. if anyone should raise there hand at me like there goin to hit me or something hes at the end of that leash quicker than u could imagine. even is someone is yelling at me he takes his place inbetween me and the supposed threat. has also stoped some guy from robbing my dads horse saddles by trapping the guy in the tack room until morning.
heres a few pics of my big boy CUJO

The CGC test is actually very easy once you complete basic OB work. The ATTS is harder, however it judges the dog's reaction on the breed. So with the aggressive stranger, your AB getting funky is allowed. both of the sites actually tell you step by step what they do. Working with SCH will help with the protectiveness of the breed.
Are you using supplements with the hips? My AB has issues as well. We keep him slightly underweight and that makes a big difference. You should stop by the bull breed chat we have on the dog side one sunday and chat with us. We need some new blood over in the land of dogs. We have both AB and "pit" owners in there.

no hes not on any supplements. thanks for the invite i will def be there this sunday. does the cgc involve being around other dogs cuz both of my abs are very male dog aggresive. as of monday neither are allowed around eachother with any toys food or if one is hyped up cuz its a guranteed fight. they both come from serious hunting/working lines of abs so there probably a little more intense than your average abs. they got into it pretty good on monday over a empty water bottle. diesel my pup is super intense. cujo my other ab is all of 115lbs and diesels prolly around 60lbs and diesel was not backin down to cujo. both have a couple small punctures but nothing serious as i broke them up rather quickly.
btw love ur pitty, not over exxagerated like most are these days
>>btw love ur pitty, not over exxagerated like most are these days
Classic pitty head size, not the ghetto, but he is SOOOOO tall. Apparently neutering early screws with growth plates. Both of my dogs are rescue dogs, so they are not worth breeding.
