leo throwing up!

Casper06 Aug 27, 2007 12:52 AM

i'm worried about my leo, the one from a few posts ago with the thin tail. I got some wax worms today and put four in the cage . A while later I came back and three were gone but the fourth was slimy and dead. I assumed someone (I have two leos in the cage) had tried to eat it. Then, as I watched, the one with the thin tail threw up two of the worms, whole. Are they too big? Or did she try to eat too many at once? should I be worried at all? She is about 5-6 inches long and around three months old.

Thanks for any help!

I would suggest to take a stool sample to your best rep herp vet doctor as so as possible a gecko with a skinny tail could possibly have parasites and is the reason whys shes trowing up on you and is dehydrated and probley mostly likely sick

dont take her to a normal vet unless you have to though for they could give you the wrong guidedest //

good luck to you and your gecko

another suggestion .. if your gecko is sick like that you should really i suggest separating your two gecko's unless you wanna deal with having two sick leos for the price of one..

i just am suggesting this stuff .. but please take my advice seriously and any other herpers giving you advice

good luck

I agree with Christina. A vet visit sounds like it's in order and please seperate the two or you'll wind up with two sick babies.

At this point, it would probably make the most sense to get them both checked out by the vet. If they've been living together for a while now, they're probably both infected with whatever it happens to be, one's just further along in the process than the other. I'd still say separate them so that reinfection doesn't occur if one of them gets better first.

hmm its possible something could be wrong with the leo.

but 2-3 waxworms could be more than enough if its only 5-6 inches long. although must have been pretty bad to see it happen

yes, it did get me kinda scared. Later I gave her one small one with no problems, so I think it was just that she ate one and discovered that she liked them so she ate all of 'em too fast. She's fine now, except that, even before I started giving her wax worms, she seems to be very fat in the belly with a thin tail.
What could cause this? I know that in cats it means malnutrition. But, the other gecko seems very healthy.

Thanks everyone for your help!
