Moon full but snakes moving....

krhodes Aug 27, 2007 09:24 AM

Collected the I-10 / 349 corridor Friday. Full moon blaring, saw 2 atrox, 1 molossus all aor. No colubrids. Anyone else have the same experience on full moon nights? Any documented alterna cruising on full moon nights?

thanks

It has either been an animal taken off the cut, or on the road after the moon was gone (behind the hills, cloudy night, or after the moon set in the weeee-ist of hours).

I also know that people from time to time take them on the road with the full moon up, but that is not super common, they seem to stay in the "comfort zone" if it is a bright time of the night and not adventure as far in the open.

I agree somewhat. I have never collected one on the orad with a full moon blaring though.

I have not caught one on a full moon. But I have a Friend that has caught 1 for sure and maybe 2 not certain. But He did name the 1st Full Moon since it was apropos.

I caught a nice light phase Blairs on top of the cut directly across from the store in Loma Alta. He was about 1.5 feet long and laying out in the wide open. Many people have caught alterna on a full moon. It's not that uncommon.

Tons of anurans down south last two nights, only one dor ribbon from Corpus to Raymondville and back last night, Corpus to Hwy 16 via 624 Monday night, not even a neonate atrox. Full moon bad down in the flatlands. Was hoping for a straggler annulata but would have been happy to see any ophidian alive.
