With all of these post about tank sizes I am starting to think my 60 is too big for my ball. It's 4ft long 2ft wide and 1ft high. Is it too big?

Ball pythons are shy snakes. Most of the time they hide anyway. One challange with keeping ball pythons is trying to give them enough room but not so much that they feel uncomfortable and refuse to eat because they feel insecure.
I keep most of my balls in plastic containers, shoe, sweater and blanket boxes. A 20gallon "long" would house an averaged sized adult no problem. In these plastic containers, they eat fine, shed fine and grow fine. Plus they are cheap lightweight and easy to clean.
Hope this helps
I don't know if a 60 gallon can be too big- I have a 90 gallon, 4ft by 2ft by 2ft, and my snake seems perfectly content. I didn't know that there could be such a thing as too big an enclosure! please tell me if I'm wrong!
My ball seems to love his tank. same tank size as yours.
He is 4# and is 4 1/2 feet long. Yes,he is in his hide most of the day,but he loves to slither around at night!
I personally don't agree that BP get stressed out if they are housed too big. They aren't stressed out in nature and that's much bigger. But you have to make sure that he has enough hides. As someone said in an earlier reply (sorry, forgot who) BP can be shy animals (I say "can be" because my two BP are far from shy) so they have to have places to hide or things as plants and wood where they can hide themselves behind.

I don't know.....is the Earth too big? Since they live outside in nature. Maybe CB are used to the little butter cups that people have them in at the shows? I would think that as long as they have the 'right' sized hide, and they feel secure in there, why would it matter how big the tank is?
Not an expert, just my .02

that's what I've been thinking too, thanks. I know my bp loves slithering around at night and checking everything out.
