Creamsicle x Okeetee = What?

jnjreptiles Aug 27, 2007 01:23 PM

We just got in some baby corns with the mother from a local breeder. We are not big on corns so we have no idea on what they are.

The babies are from breeding a creamsicle to an okeetee.

Can anyone tell be what the babies are? Are they normals? Thanks.

I'm no expert, I've proven that. My guess is basically normal phenotype. But has emory blood, so that will change color towards a rootbeer a little.

They will all be het for amel, and all carry emory blood.

It would also depend on what amel made the cream, a regular amel or a reverse okeetee. I suspect a variation of babies, close to normal.

I once had my feamle bloodred bred out to a corn we thought carried diffused. Similarly baies variaed a lot.

Good luck

yes and no
they are normals, yes
BUT...due to the emoryi in the mix (creamsicles are corn/emoryi crosses expressing amelanism)they would be called rootbeers.
A lot of people really do not like the label because some aren't rootbeer colored but it has been used in the hobby long enough to be synonomous with having emoryi blood.
If you do not use "rootbeer" they need to expressed as normal corn/emoryi crosses. The fact that they have emoryi blood should always be expressed.
As Tom mentioned they will be het for amelanism.
If you bred two of those offspring together you would get normals (rootbeers) and amels (creamsicles).
hope that helps

Here are a few pictures of the babies. We have the mother here. The guy said the father was a creamsicle. Just making sure they look like they should if it was a okeetee x creamsicle breeding.

If so, I guess I post them as normal het amel??

Thanks for everyones help!!

You need to be honest!!!!! Like Jimmy says, tell people they have Creamsicle blood!!!! Why not just list them like this: Creamsicle X Okeetee het amel. Then people know they are a hybrid. I list mine as Reversed Okeetee X Creamsicle. And they are Hot!!!!

Ok. That is why I asked here. I didn't want to post them for something they are not. But I will just post them as okeetee x creamsicle het amel.

Thank you to everyone for the help.

You're correct again!........along with the other guys that posted.

Nothing pisses me off more than misrepresentation!!!!! there's already enough of that in certain taxa to ruin things for eternity!!!!

The unfortunate thing is that.....even though HE will represent them correctly,....undoubtedly down the line, those and countless others will be sold as "WHATEVER"!!..and so on, and so on to further "muddy" future projects.
Well, enough on that.....good to be back on the forum!!, I moved a while back, and took awhile to get back on line. So hello again, and see ya on the forums!
