Simple questions about bloods .

a_chen_tw Aug 27, 2007 03:21 PM

Anyones knows how long and how heavy and how old an adult blood ( or Burneo short tailed) should be for breeding ?

My adult WC male is veru defence and easy to bite . He likes to "jump up" and strike , so scaring for me . If anyone knows any good way to handle with this terrible animal or "training"
him to be more tame ?

thanks.

Borneo males (Python breitensteini) can reproduce as early at two years depending on feeding regiman. Preferably three years with a minimum weight of 6lbs (2.5kg-3.0kg). Females should be older and larger around 4years and at least 10lbs (5kg). These are minimum preferable sizes and others may have experience at different weights and ages than me. I prefer older and bigger, but not too heavy. Obesity leads to small or no fertilized eggs.

I usually start the males at the weights above, but females at 12-15 lbs and four to five years.

I would expect Python curtus and Python brongersmai to be about the same.
