Ornate cross with three toed

jonah Aug 27, 2007 05:40 PM

I did a search regarding a cross between a 3 toed box and another type of box. I didn't find much. I just purchased a captive bred ornate x three toed and was trying to get some info on how they will look whan mature as well as how to care for him/her in other words do I go by the info I read on three toed or on ornate info. Any suggestions and especially pictures would be helpfull.

Thanks,
Jonah

The living conditions aren't really that different really. Pick one or the other recommended habitat setups and your turtle should be fine. For a hatchling I would lean to one with higher humidity.

I don't have any pics, sorry. However your turtle may look more like one parent or the other, or may develop characteristics of both parents that are blended somewhere in between both parents. It all depends on what genetic characteristics the parents had that were passed on your turtle. It will be fun for you to see how your turlte grows and changes over the years!

I saw a pic (was found in the area where their ranges overlap, apparently produced by free-ranging parents, and was in the herp/fish journal Copeia) of turtle that was assumed to be a cross between a three toed and ornate. The rear feet had three toes, but the shell coloring was more similar to ornates.
