I found all the herps posted near Daytona just off 95 by night cruising the area, finding a few water snakes on the road and listening to the frogs. It led me to a few areas right on 95 that produced. I would suggest a night cruise, even after a long day, just after sundown is prime and I found the Florida water snakes on the first pass, that told me frogs and toads were nearby, the next morning I saw the area and found the adamanteus. Good luck!

Dude... you gotta be kiddin'! Go out and find "Snakes and Snake Hunting" by Carl Kauffield and read the darn thing. You seem to want to snake hunt, but it also seems you don't feel like putting in the work to actually do it with any success.

As far as Boca Raton... geez, just find and wooded lot or trash pile in any woods and you're well on your way. Last time I was in Orlando I had no car and no idea where to look. Within a 10 minute walk from the Orlando Marriott I found a Gopher Tortise and a Water Moccasin... not to mention a really awesome Armadillo. And this was in February.

Snakes are literally everywhere in Fla., but ya gotta look. And don't make the mistake of thinking you have to get far away from people to find them. The Moccasin and Tortise were found right behind a very busy store. People actually create anomolous conditions that usually benefit reptiles rather than drive them away. Where you find people, you find trash. Where you find trash, you find rodents... and where you find rodents, you find "guess what"? And once you start finding them, it just gets easier and easier.

Good luck and get oput there. (and don't lift ground cover, such as boards and tin sheets, with your bare hands... there can be a lot of venomous herps under those objects, just waiting for something warm and possibly tasty).
