Since everyone is posting pics/ UPDATE!

Hey everyone,
The Pseustes sulphureus pair I recently acquired have been doing pretty well. The male is doing great and is starting to calm down "a little" with handling every once in a while.
The big news is that the female is GRAVID! She should be laying within the next two weeks or so, maybe sooner. Looks like there are about eight eggs, but I can't be sure. A big thanks to Bill and Dan for their advice with the situation, as this is my first clutch of snakes eggs since I've been breeding(I also breed some lizards, which I have egg experience with). Let's hope I can hatch them out.
The female has not eaten since I got her, but hopefully this is mostly because of the fact she is gravid.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Awesome pics. How many sulphureus have been hatched in the states?

Very few. I know that Tom Davis has hatched them out before, but other than him I know of no one who has hatched them out in the United States. I also know of one individual who has a CB specimen, and I believe he is in the Netherlands. There could certainly be others who have bred them that I don't know about. There are some pictures of Tom's hatchlings in the kingsnake photo gallery. They have the cryptic coloration much like poecilonotus, which helps them camouflage. Also, Bill, are Pseustes sexually dimorphic? It seems that only the adult males have the prominent keels. Quetzal and Monica also mentioned this in their article. This would definitely make sexing adult specimens very simple.

Nothing like starting out right! The odds are you will also be the one to hatch some kind of morph since this is your first go round with snake eggs! LOL Well done..........Bill

Way to get in a garavid female you did win the lottery on that one! Now if you distribute the hatchlings to people like bill that are working on making it possible for me to have a baby one of these days, that would be extra cool! Awesome snakes. I hope to get some good results within the next 5 years with spilotes then work on some of those guys..
Did i mention awesome snakes?,
Nate
