Is that a male or female? Looks like it has a little bit of jowls on it. I've noticed though on males (pictures only) that they tend to loose their black banding and are just mostly red, is this true?

Hi, yes that seems to be true, this is indeed a male, and soon, the white will be gone..Thanks, Phil..

Boy, you definitely have a nice tegu crew going there!
My blue female (Bella) is up to her territorial antics again. She was aggressively chasing Ruby (our larger red female)in their new home. So now it blows my breeding project with Bella nad phoenix for a bit. Bella is in with Rex now, which should make hime real happy!

Thanks Greg, they are funny that way, I had a pair that lived in harmony for many years, and one day I guess they decided they didn't like each other, LOL..good luck with yours...

How big is he? How much does he weigh, and how long is he? What have you been feeding him? Do you know how long it will be before he loses his white color?

Hi, he is just short of the 4' mark, he weighs about 12 lbs., and about losing the white, you never know, I had a male red, I got rid of last year that was almost 5' long, and weighed 25 lb.s, and was a solid salmon color, I have pics, but not digital, I will have to get a new scanner, and I will post the pics...

Why did you get rid of him? Amazing size...aren't reds supposed to be shorter then BW's??

PS: Did you go to the turtle auction thing at Daytona? Oh and did you see that chinese alligator (when you first walked in??) I fell in love with her!

Hi Nicole, yes the Chinese aligator was neat, I used to keep american gators myself, I got rid of all of my tegus at that time, because I wanted to start all over with new blood, all new hatchlings, I had 7 b/w's, and I don't know how many reds, all huge adults;
