I have some small acheta domestica crickets that I would like to breed,at what length will they be able lay eggs?also how deep should the laying substrate be?

Crickets can be 3/4 to an inch long, for good reproduction, would most go aim at one inch.
Have some thinkness to the substrate, about an inch and a half too two inches and keep it damp, not wet.
