Mark Bell line "Super hypo brooks "

Bluerosy Aug 29, 2007 12:28 PM

These look like a hybino to me. To bad they were in the blue when i took these pics. As you can see the price reflect their look.

A few other odds and ends from the Bells:

Most of the goiniXfloridana I've seen do nothing for me, though a few resemble "Dream kings". I do like the easternXfloridana, especially the natural occurring ones.

Upscale Aug 29, 2007 01:14 PM

I don’t know why you haven’t warmed up to that cross either! You’ve got one of the nicest female patternless Goini I have ever seen, and also one of, no, the nicest Ghost Brooks I’ve ever seen. I’m stickin’ my magic Crimson King voodoo doll in the oven and chanting!!!

Coincidence? I think not!
Hey it is always a pleasure to visit your website and check out your pictures. I have read so many references to the Florida Scrub Jay (anytime you read about Indigo habitat) and I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen a picture of one, wouldn’t know one if I saw it. I liked seeing those pics on your site also.

CrimsonKing Aug 29, 2007 07:16 PM

I swear there were two jays here just a minute ago!!!!

and to keep it close to "on topic"

They look kinda of like Peanut Butters. Did you get a history?

Bluerosy Aug 29, 2007 12:53 PM

The Bells don't have and never had PB's. I don't think they even know what they are.

I think they are hybinos and they just did not know their animals had hypo in them. I mean the hypo gene has been around for a while. There is a good chance the snakes they produced from the goini x brooks second gen had the hypo gene floating around in them. So they don't know what a hybino looks like and named them "super" because the lack of reference.

foxturtle Aug 29, 2007 01:21 PM

...they didn't know the lavender/albino was present. I don't think they would have called them hypo anything if it was a lavender brooksi X goini project. I would guess that they popped out of the hypo brooksXgoini project, which is odd, as lavender isn't that common of a trait...

Bluerosy Aug 29, 2007 01:34 PM

There was a lot of crossing the lavender into the hypo a ways back but nobody produced any hybinos. People didn't eevn think trhey would be able to tell a lav from a hybino. The same went for the honduran hybinos. A long time people didn't think they could tell a visual difference until they popped up.

So it is possible that they used a hypo in the original breeding that was het for lavender to breed into the goini. Also these hybino (supers) came from the same clucth as the other high red hypos you see in the pic. So it all makes sense.

Bluerosy Aug 29, 2007 01:37 PM

some of the hypo goini/brooks that people bought might be het for hybino.

Here is a pic of some of the siblings from the same clucth:

Nokturnel Tom Aug 29, 2007 02:06 PM

you can tell the difference from a Tangerine Albino or Hybino Honduran. I thought the only way to know was to breed a pair of Hypos het Albino? Tom Stevens

Hey there, hope this comes across correctly. What would you guys do if you were promised LAST YEAR,LAST MONTH AND LAST WEEK to be "first on the list" only to see pictures of snakes at the show on the internet....The unnamed vendor claims to have 30 CLUTCHES of these, yet price them and sell them as if they were all from the same clutch....Jeff

Ask this “vendor” why you are seeing pictures of said snakes promised to you on the internet being sold from an “advertised” one clutch when you were told they have 30 clutches. If you don’t ask you will never know, call them on it and see what they say. Maybe an honest mistake, maybe a lie, maybe something else, I would personally ask.

I beleive the Bells have some people helping them year round and sell their babies off their table at the expo. I know for a fact that some came snakes on their table came from individuals working for them. Mabe they had some and the Bells had some. If thats the case that explains why they did not contact you.

Really? I don't know anything about hypo Prairie kings for $700., So I wouldn't know a good one if it smacked me in the face. I just threw that pic in because it was a $700.prarie king.

Is that a good price? How many people have them? Are their any other hypo Praries around?

I posted on that hypo prairie earlier,......yeah, it looks fabulous!,.....but that's alot of "coins" for a snake that many don't bother with, but the snake itself was a BEAUTY, no doubt!.

The female in my opinion was the nicer of the two, but for a calligaster of any type to raise my eye-brows, it takes some doin'!

Thanks again for the nice pair of brooksi, I emailed you back thanking you for the info you gave me, I'm hoping my email didn't get lost in the shuffle.

best regards, ~Doug
