Ria 8/30 litter

Jeff Clark Aug 30, 2007 09:03 AM

This litter of Brazilian Rainbow Boas was born here this morning. The mother is Ria. She was born here in 2003 (I think that is right). She is not real big and so this litter of 15 live healthy babies with no slugs or stillborns is better than I expected from her. The father of this litter is probably a male I got as a baby from Tom Davis in 2000. This litter is not related to my first two BRB litters of the year which were both fathered by Branco. I only saw some courtship in february between the Davis male and Ria. The babies in this litter are long and slender. I picked out three at random and together the three of them weighed 94 grams. I will sex them after I get some sleep. This litter makes a total of 65 Rainbow Boas born here so far this year. 56 of the 65 have been Brazilians.

Tired mom afterwards.

This is a very nice looking rainbowboa....Lots of the characteristics that I look for, clean color and nice side crescent markings. I bet these babies will grow up to be awesome.....

Jeff Clark Aug 30, 2007 04:27 PM

Tim,
...How about posting PICs of some noses coming out of them eggs. I miss having eggs hatching. It really is a lot different than finding a big pile of really messy BRBs.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. I got a couple hours sleep then got up and went to a very boring staff meeting. I tell you this semi-retired thing is not quite as easy as I was hoping for. I am still too stupid tired to sex baby snakes.
