Some Kunasir Island Rats

Heres some pics of My Kunasir Island Rat group:

They are a really cool species. Underapprecitaed in the hobby in my opinion. Hope you enjoyed them.

Neat snakes. What does it take to keep those? Temps, humidity, etc? Does that isalnd have a cool Winter? Thanks.

They like lower temps, being from a northern climate. I keep mine at 72-75F. They arent too picky about humidity, but I would err to the side of dry before wet.

They prefer a longer brumation of 3-4 months at least. And they tend to go off food for extended periods of time for no apparent reason. But they will definitely go off food by early Sept around here in preparation for brumation.

The normals come from the first island (Kunasir) north of Japan, owned by Russia. The albinos are technically Japanese Ratsnakes. They come from The main Japanese island group. The albinos come from one small prefecture where they are revered as "national monuments". There are few in collections in the US as they are protected and not allowed to be exported.

Disposition wise, they are extremely tame...almost cornsnake docile. My oldest female actually climbs out of her rack drawer onto my arm, will coil up, and I will do my snake room chores with her around my wrist. Its almost like she likes to be held and out seeing stuff going on...very cool.

They look like great snakes. I like all the blue/green.
