This is probably a stupid question but I just wanted a quick answer. My nilk snake is about to shed. She went opaque and now her color is back. It is time to feed her, should I wait?

Not a silly question at all..
Some snakes will accept meals while in shed and others will not.. If you offer a meal and it takes that's fine or if you decide to wait till after the shed to feed that will work too..
Good luck!

Thanks! Since she generally goes into hiding for about 48 hrs after eating I thought it might be best to wait. Then again I know I am when I am hungry. ha ha
I've noticed the same thing as Mike with my milks and kings. Some of mine will eat and some won't. Occasionally, one will eat while blue and then regurgitate. Watch and make sure to clean it up quickly if this happens.
I powerfeed my snakes, but when they are about to shed I usually offer a smaller meal (1 pinky instead of 5, or a pinky mouse instead of a pinky rat). That way, they stay on schedule, but there's no danger of the shed skin bunching up around the lump in the snake's middle (I've heard of this happening before, by the way) and less chance of regurge.

Personally I don’t feed any snake I own once they are in the blue, however a breeder has more reason to feed the snake to get it up to size as soon as possible. Even with my breeders I let them shed first then feed on my normal schedule. You might notice once your snake is in the blue they tend to hide more then normal just as they would in the wild, more then likely just as in the wild they wouldn’t be seeking prey. There is no risk to NOT feeding the snake in blue, however there are some slight risks with feeding in the blue, if it’s a pet I would just wait it as it won’t be to much more then a week before your snake sheds.
