Update on female Pseustes.

Royreptile Aug 30, 2007 06:31 PM

The female Pseustes has recovered completely from her egg laying ordeal. Last night, the same day she laid her eggs, she ate six f/t hopper sized mice, and six f/t quail chicks, and was looking for more. This is the first time she's eaten in my care so it was a big relief.

Now fatten her up for next year. And good luck with the eggs.
Take care!

Nice work! can't wait to see babies. You have some good taste in snakes.

It will be interesting to see the babies. In Amazonian Peru the young look just like Bothrops atrox.

Cheers,

I think I wrote you a nice long breakdown of how my Pseustes have been kept...I expect some good incubation notes : )

This genus is going to be a hit. I think it came on a little fast though lol. I sat and watched for a few months as nobody wanted to dish out the cash on the P. peocilonotus pair. I am glad I jumped on it. So long as the price of C.H. P. suphurus does not kill the value of my snakes ; )

Just kidding. Even if the market for my $1000 snakes dropped down to $8 a pair...I would still not regret jumping on them.

Thanks, Gavin! How is your pair of poecilonotus doing? One of these days, you're going to have to post some pictures. *hint* lol
Did you read Quetzal and Monica's article? It's neat, I bet that some of the snakes in that article are responsible for the pair you have.
