5k to blow on snakes???

jmiller Aug 30, 2007 07:07 PM

I have 5k to blow on snakes, was wondering what breedable size morphs you would buy?

I am assuming by money to blow, you are really rich, and now want some snakes, and you would not have better uses for the money...

I would say buy a pair of Pieds, but it all depends on what you have now, and what you like. Pieds will never go out of style.

Sorry I forgot to put like more then 1 morph. Basically which are the hottest morphs at the cheapest price?

johnavilla Aug 30, 2007 09:01 PM

if you're asking which are the "hottest morphs at the lowest price" you should probably save your money for now. Buy one or two snakes that you reeeeaaaaaalllly love the look of, learn the ins and outs of husbandry, try a couple of breedings and take it from there, slowly. It takes a long time to get to the point where you can care for a large collection. You will make mistakes and you will learn. If I am assuming too much or if I sound like I am lecturing you I apologize. Most people who ask this type of question are just starting out so I am just offering some advice.

I eat human infants. They, like everything else, taste like chicken. What?

Codom are most likely what you are looking for. Pastel, Spider, Mojave, Cinny, Black Pastel, Yellow Belly, Het Red Axanthic... If you like the double codom morphs, you could get a bumblebee, or a pewter pastel. Good luck, and enjoy...

Although there are lots of projects you can start with $5K if you want to go "breedable now" your options are going to be rather limited. And you want a "HOT" project - ouch. I'd be looking at bumblebee, pewters or supers.

JET Pythons

(CJBianco explaining the origins of the BP market.)
"In the beginning Bob created the Ball Python market. And the market was without morph, and wild traits were upon the industry. And Bob said, Let there be morph, and there was morph. And Bob saw the morph, that it was good; and Bob divided the morph from the wild trait. And Bob called the morph Albino, and the wild trait Normal. And the Albino and the Heterozygous Albino were the first investment.

By supers what do you mean pastel or pewters?

erikm Aug 30, 2007 08:18 PM

A pied or clown male would be a nice purchase... and if possible a het female for the morph you purchase.

I'd go with a pied for sure

5k isn't alot of money, especially if you are gonna get ready to breed animals.

I'd say go with what you like and want to create more of.....

IF you have $5k to blow........then you porobablky need to do a little more thinking about how you shoudl spend your $$$. THis post seems to be one of those I have $5K......how do I get rich quick posts.....

Sorry.......but I just get annoyed at people trying to exploit these ANIMALS to make a quick buck.

If your serious about getting into this hobby because you like and care about creating neat new morphs for the excitement of it....feel free to drop me a line and I would be glad to guide you in the right direction.........regardless of whom you decide to purchase your stock from......

I wish that was the case but I didn't want to get that into it, just my own collection. I figured that post was an easy way to find out prices and what variety of morphs I could get at 5k, to save time shopping around.I will try to own every morph their are of ball python because I love them, which means I can pump more money into the big breeders pocket, or share the wealth with your up and coming breeder as well. I'll leave the getting rich part to the breeder that has the morph I care to own if the price is right! Nothing personal to anyone in the hobby or business, Jeremy

Pair of Het Lavender Albino's. Hottest looking and best investment ball python morph. 5k will get that pair. Purchase from a well known breeder though. Good luck!

snakeball Aug 31, 2007 09:45 AM

Not a breeding pair though,,,,, 5k will get a baby pair. Still great investment!

jnsreptiles Aug 31, 2007 12:38 PM

I agree 100%. Het Lav Alb are the way to go.
