any tortoise owners/breeders in CT?

turtle_22 Aug 31, 2007 07:27 PM

Hi!

I'm looking for any tortoise owners/breeders in CT. Please post back what species you have!
I've got 2 adult redfoots (a male & a female) and also 4 box turtles.

Thanks!

Christine

Hi Christine. I lived in CT for 35 years during which time I owned and bred Burmese, Indian, and Sri Lankan Stars, Radiated Tortoises, and all 4 types of Spider Tortoises, among others. There are not a whole lot of tortoise breeders there per se, but there are many people who own nice collections. I still own property in Sharon and go there monthly, but my tortoises and I have moved to GA. In what part of CT are you located? Perhaps I can help you get in contact with some other owners.

Hi,

Thanks Bill! I'd appreciate it if you could let me know names and contact info for some of the other hobbyists you know in the state. It would be nice to do a bit of networking!
I'm in Bristol.

Hi Christine. Bristol is one spot where the CT Herp Society used to have its monthly meetings way back in the old days! There was a nature center on Rte 69 almost at the Burlington line. We had some great meetings there. Don't recall the name of that center right now, but the meetings in more recent times were down on the coast in Stamford or Daien or near New Haven.

Anyway, email me at zovick@bellsouth.net and I will give you contact info for a few people.

Hello,
I have two redfoots, two leopards, and one Burmese Mt. Tort. All about 2 1/2 years old and my best guess is My 5 Boys or at least thats my best guess. I'm up in Lakeville, CT.
