dumerils question (sexing)

hey i have a nice dumerils monitor and i am looking to get another one and i dont want to get two males. how do you sex them? is there other methods than probing? like phisical traits?

Males have bulges at the vent that extend down the base of the tail. Notice I said extend as even females can have a small bump. Both males and females can evert so unless you know the difference between a hemipenis and a hemiclitoris it wont be of much help.

The males will also have a much bigger bulkier build the females head size, neck size, overall preportions. The other thing you can do is look at the preanul dots. The females differ from the males in that they are either not present or are smooth. The males are easily seen and are bumpy. These dots are on the underside just above the vent. This is best if you have a male and female to compare to though only having one may not give you much results unless the spots are missing.

It might also work if you post a picture full length side shot of your dumeril might allow for some of us to sex it for you.
