Waterfall Pump

DKiM128 Aug 20, 2003 10:16 PM

I've been deciding on a pump for my falsebottom and back up to my waterfall. I been thinking of the fluval pumps, anyone else have better luck with any other pumps?

I have had great luck with the aquarium systems Maxi Jet pumps. They make a few different sizes and styles.

I've had great luck with the Little Giant fountain pumps--70 gph. You can get them at Lowe's in the pond section for $17.

I use 2 Duettos in my setup. One for my waterfall and the other for my stream. It is compact, has its own filteration system, and can sit in as low as 3 inches of water.

I use a very smal and cheap fountain pump from a local store. Its from a company name Bio-Flow. It is very small, and will not pump water that high, but for my needs it has worked great. The first one I setup has been running 12 hours a day for about 7 months.

I'm planning on having around2-3 inches of water in my falsebottom, is there any pump you recommend for a 55 gallon of 2-3 inches of water.

My favorite for low water is RIO. They can be slipped apart for cleaning, are very powerful for the size, and have a simple flow adjustment. A 90 will work well in 3 inches of water.

i use the 5 gallon whisper filter pump....its like $9 for the filter....u just take the pump off the bottom (it comes right of) and put in whatever length of 1/2" tubeing and set the flow rate it can pump water over 1 foot straight up...hope this helps. I used this for my Red Eye tree frog tank and it worked great.
