Very cool, Al. Do they bite? ha
Bothrops have become one of my favorite genus over the last few years. I think I have to thank Harris and Switalski for that.
Not to mention, they are so much fun to "work" with.

Carmichael Sep 01, 2007 01:13 PM

Terry, we need special folks like you who are crazy enough to love "working" with Bothrops - "fun" and "Bothrops" just doesn't quite do it for me Al, nice job on the new babies.

The key is to wear sandals with them....ha. I've only worked with 3 or 4 species, so there are plenty that I'm sure aren't so delightful. I hope to find that out over the next few years, and hopefully in the wild.....and not at night. Everyone knows how bothrops are when the sun goes down.
I do think some of the bothrops get a bit of a bad rep, though. BTW, Rob....it's Tom.

My bad Tom!....I knew that (although I seem to think I've done this more than once....get some of the usernames mixed up), just a reminder that the ol noggin doesn't always fire on all cylinders.

No worries. I get called Tim, Todd, and Tony, so Terry is no biggie.

Man, my ex wife used to give me the same look! She is a lot more venomous than these beauties though!

TJP Sep 01, 2007 02:06 PM

HA! And the only known AV is a divorce with a prenup drip.

I love the Bothrops too. My only complaint is that it is too difficult to find so many of them. I would love to see the Jararacussu available. Man they are nice. But thats the first time I have seen B. barnetti and I must say......NICE.

Thanks,
Dan

"I would love to see the Jararacussu available"

I've seen one or two available, along with jararaca. They are super expensive when available.

WOW! That is a very pretty snake! My wife really wanted some bothrops until she saw a few in action. HA HA Now she's happy with her rattlers.
Congrats

Well Tom,
If he had you confused with me...there are worse things that could happen
Love the barnetti...though one of my favorites to work with are the carribeus...lovely lil beasties! Both looks and dispositions...

Anyone gonna be in Tucson for the snakebite symposium?
I'm leaving for the airport in a few minutes...

Terry

These have to be in my top 3 of most sought-after snakes, I really love the pics. You have to love a snake that's so good looking it get's featured on a postage stamp! I sure wish we had them here, and hope I can get a hold of a pair myself!

Rare gems like these are why we all get into reptiles. How many babies did you have and are any available?
Once again congrats on the production of these young!

Fabulous looking animals Al. Looks like very healthy snakes with really brilliant markings. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
