i got a warning from waddel in sanderson......and had a discussion with a warden from del rio who said the rattlesnake roundups are a "win/win "situation!!!

OK!
Great!
When stopped, all we have to say is that we're collecting rattlers for the roundup!
It's win-win.

we were shing cuts from a vehicle in sanderson...when asked what we were doin' the driver said"LOOKING FOR SNAKES"....on 277 we were eating samiches...when a warden asked "what are youse guys doin'...i replied eatin' a samich...waht one???".....he said a "concerned" rancher called 'bout strange behavior.....that was the "win/win" conversation....

Since the new regs came out, I noticed the following:

1. They didn't include the ROW ban in the "what's new" for hunting.

2. They did include the "unlawful to hunt" from ROW clause, HOWEVER

3. They defined "hunt" in that statement as (capture, trap, take, or kill). By the wording of the brochure, photography is illegal, but running over a snake isn't.

I meant photography is legal, running over isn't. D'OH!

At any rate, the "Outdoor Annual" brochure is not necessarily authoritative, and the actual TPWD code would have to be consulted, but since it's so clearly spelled out in the Annual, carrying that in the car and pointing it out to LE if stopped should help--IF all you're doing is photographing (mostly all I do).
