Switch to f/t - stress to ME

PHFaust Sep 02, 2007 07:15 PM

I have switched a million and one balls and burms to frozen, but my borneo has been a pain to say the least. I run a rescue here so switching balls has been a great pride of mine. Burms, well they are garbage pits. Naturally the one snake that wont switch has to be a freaking personal animal. She will eat live at every offering, but I would prefer to switch to f/t. I have tried the following, in no order:

paper bag feeding
Brianing - this one is always fun and was always last resort for balls.
fresh kill
dry rodent warmed
dry rodent room temp
wet rodent warmed
wet rodent room temp
dunking rodent in chicken stock (home made for this purpose)
fresh kill dead
fresh kill still kicking
tongs wiggle

I have also offered at night or day with all of these methods.

Poor Rich hears this saga all the time, and he tells me to be patient. Her blood feeding response will kick in. She has been a slow feeder since the begining. I now have had her feeding reliably on live for 2 straight months with weekly feedings. She is small for her size due to my dinking around in begining.

Right now, I want to get some growth on her. Original caging was too large, on advice I switched to smaller, and thats when she kicked in more with the live going from once every three to weekly.

Am I seeing a turning point where I should be able to get her on to frozen? I think I just need a hug. I love the bloods but boy is she a crash course to frustration.

Eva has an INSANE feeding response. I have to hold the cage she is in because she hits so bloody hard. Tonight her first mouse she hit so hard when it hit the window the eye popped out of the mouse. So the response is there with live. Just not frozen.

Cindy,

I have a couple out of 45 or so, that will not eat f/t.

So maybe the answer is....Live prey items.
